Cheez-It, the Brittany Spaniel puppy ~ Adopted!

Sometimes things just happen, don’t they?

Take Cheez-It, the Border Collie/Brittany Spaniel puppy, for example.

I stopped by the local county shelter on my way back from driving Jedediah, Holly’s Basset Hound puppy, to another transporter. My intention was to drop off a bag of dog feed and leave, but of course I had to take a walk through the kennel first. Lo and behold who did I see on the first aisle but Cheez-It, all clean and white from a recent bath given to him by a shelter volunteer. His kennel card indicated he’d been there for almost a month. How was that possible? I knelt down to get a closer look at this adorable youngster. Well, he licked my hand, stared up at me with those big, round eyes, and that was all it took … Did I mention he has Richie Cunningham freckles on his nose?

Cheez-It is a 10-month-old, 30-lb. Border Collie/Brittany Spaniel mix puppy with a friendly and mellow disposition. A bit on the submissive side, he gets along well with cats and other dogs. In fact, when we took Cheez-It into the shelter’s cat room to gauge his reaction, he played kissy face with one of the dog-friendly kitties there. (Where was my camera?!?) He is neutered, current on all vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. In short, this boy’s ready to meet his forever family! Could it be yours?

Cheez-It’s photo album can be viewed on facebook.

July 27, 2011: ADOPTED! Cheez-It just left with Martin and Mackenzie Booth and their beautiful Weimaraner, Syra. Little sister Aoki, the Chihuahua, is waiting at home. This is a fantastic, active young couple — Martin’s a firefighter and Mackenzie’s a second grade teacher — and I know Cheez-it is going to have a blast playing with his new sisters and soaking up all the love and cuddles he can! Edgewater, welcome your newest Dog Liberator dog! ~ Amy
