The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

Courage the Benevolent ~ Adopted

Courage is a true candidate for Canine Good Citizenship, just like many other of our dogs have achieved, that is, if his foster Lynne Deal can give him up.

We named him ‘courage’ because he is so loving but has been so mistreated that he had to overcome his fear to approach people. With great courage, he has learned to do so, burying his head in any available lap.

Okay, this is all going to sound made up, but this dog is just unbelievable. Totally housebroken, he does not chew or destroy anything that does not belong to him. He likes water, cats, children, and other dogs. He reminds me of Tim Tebow, and Carter (now Carson). He is just perfect. I hope he gets adopted soon, before Lynne hugs all of his fur off!!! We love Courage!

Courage is estimated to be about two years old. He may be the father of Madigan, and although he came to us with a severe respiratory infection, he is all better now. See what extra hugs and kisses can do?

His photos can be viewed on Facebook. Make sure you read the comments on each photo as they include insights and explanations by his wonderful foster Lynne.

January 9th Update:

Well, it happened. Courage got adopted. We shouldn’t be surprised!

Laurie contacted me last night asking if KitKat was still available for adoption. I told her no, but to look at our blog and see if any of our other dogs were of interest. She e-mailed me back asking about Courage. Oh! the perfect match! Laurie’s daughter wanted a Border Collie for agility purposes, but 92-year-old father was looking for a companion. Laurie and her husband have had enough dogs in their lives to know that they’d fall in love with anyone. But who would have guessed Courage’s reaction to them? According to foster Lynne, “Courage picked them, he loved them, he remembered to come back and give me a kiss before he left and that was when I teared up… what a great dog, I will miss you baby boy but your new life is going to be great…!”

My friends, this is what it is all about, saving dogs thrown away by others, healing them, loving them, until the family they have been waiting for discovers them!
