Found Starving Border Collie Pup-Adopted!

Updates are on Facebook. We’re naming this pup Zondra, and we believe her injury may be a bullet wound. Updates soon.

On 07/31/10 Linda Frazier issued this email:

This dog was found starving and is needing a new home or will go to the shelter. They cannot keep her as they cannot afford. She is about 6 months old and is favoring one leg but does put it down, just limps like she was kicked there. Can anyone take her? We have a transport going sou…th to central florida. She is located in Marianna area of the panhandle (1 hour west of Tally). Please contact me or the lady who has her.

I immediately wrote to her asking for transport options for the dog, and posted my request on Facebook. The response was amazing. Our Zondra and Laura Watson will be picking her up on private transport. Because she is so emaciated, and has had no proof of vaccines, I didn’t want her on a traditional transport. We expect to have her here by August 4th, and photos will be made available at that time.

Her condition and her leg will be evaluated by a Vet as soon as possible. Here she is with Zondra on transport.

Her photos can be viewed on Facebook.

I picked her up today. Laura Watson got her from Zondra yesterday, and today was my turn. There are tons of new photos on Facebook, but… the bottom line is as posted:
At first we all thought it was a bullet wound, but nothing was on the xray. So Dr. Murphy believes something with a lot of force has broken her knee in several places – it’s shattered, he said. Either a horse, maybe a car, but whatever it… was, it came at her with a lot of force. He does not recommend surgery.

He wants more time to see what this pup can do for herself. Holly has a lot of work ahead of her. We have to get this pup to bear weight. Updates I promise! Thanks to Aloma Jancy, especially Brenda, Zondra, Laura and Holly! Your help is just gi-normous! LOVE YOU! ~Gisele

Our former adopted, Lynne Deal, who adopted Chelsea wants this pup. Holly is going to continue to foster her until we have more information about her injury. She is an absolute doll… The pup that is! I just love her. She’s a joy to have, and even though she does not bear weight on her leg, nothing stops this little pup!

It appears that Lynne has renamed this Pup Jetta! Here’s a photo of Kelly Kober delivering the pup to Lynne! Based on Lynne’s updates, Jetta and Lynne’s Border Collie, Chelsea are having a blast, and she is bearing weight on her injured leg.

Read all about Lynne’s first adoption, Chelsea, don’t they look alike?

Special thanks to Linda Frazier, Zondra, Laura Watson, Holly, Maureen and Kelly for saving this pup!

Here’s the pup, now named Jetta, doing the BC herding game with Chelsea!
