Glee the Puppy ~ Adopted

Glee the Puppy ~ Adopted

“My friend Heather found a border collie puppy, only about 3 or 4 months old, wandering the streets. Can you help?” So read the e-mail from Andrea. What were we to say? Of course!

Heather got the puppy to Andrea and Jason, who named her, bathed her bathed her (likely her first ever bath), fed her and loved on her. A couple of days in their home (they say the perfect length of time for fostering a puppy!), they dropped her off to me on their way to the Southeast Regional Discdogging event in Auburndale.

I’d seen photos of Glee and thought she was cute, but the reality of her did the photos pale. She is adorable. She has a wirey outercoat that appears rough but is surprisingly soft. Her ears are ridiculously large and stand straight up. She has a constant smile on her face. Her tail is either wagging or curled over her back. She is very energetic, very loving, and very full of joy.

And she begs the question, what breed is she???? If she is part Border Collie, then I think that she must also be part terrier, most likely West Highland. She kind of reminds me of Happy, the dog from the TV series Seventh Heaven. He was a Westie mix. But she also looks a great deal like a Portuguese Podengo. Most commonly found in tan and white, they also come in black and white. Podengos are rather rare, so she probably isn’t one, but still, the resemblance is canny!!!

Well, whoever occupies Glee’s family tree did a good job, because this little girl is cute as can be, fast, playful and very very loving. She is no couch potato, so don’t be fooled by that cute face! I just adore her!!!

For more photos of Glee, check out her photo album. You’ll notice how fluffy she look in the beginning but then, in the photos on the grass, she become progressively shaggier. That’s because, like in the video, she is playing in the morning dew with Devon, Gravy and Bebop. By the time they were done, they all needed a major bath!!!

Glee is being fostered in Winter Park. If you are interested in adopting her, please review our adoption process, then e-mail holly.thedogliberator@gmail.com

April 20th Update:

Glee has been adopted.  Mike retired early a couple of years ago and his wife and daughter have decided he needs a friend.  When Mike met Glee, he agreed with Grace and Andrea!  Glee is all eyes for him, so I know they will have such fun together.  Oh, and they’ve renamed her GiGi!!!

  1. I am the one who found "Glee" in the middle of the road leaving our neighborhood on my way to work. When I saw her, I knew I had to pick her up. We took her in for a few day thinking we would post signs, make lost reports to our local shelters, and for sure get a call for this cutie pie. No luck! With two other rescue dogs, and a 1 year old, I knew a puppy was not a fit for us right now. Not wanting to take her to a local shelter and risk her being put down, Andrea (Glee's angel) was willing to pick her up, take her in for a few days, and bring her to you guys. I am so reassured that I did the right thing and that "Glee" will have a wonderful life there, and when she is adopted by her forever family! THANK YOU! 🙂
