Gracie the Golden Shepherd ~ Adopted!

Gracie the Golden Shepherd ~ Adopted!

Christina Skrobak was thrilled when she heard the news that Leena was adopted…. for about 20 seconds, then she informed me about Gracie. What was I to say, but sure! This young lady does NOT like her leash! She thinks a leash is better than a raw hide chew, and chew she does! Christina transported her with her own chew-proof collar! Gracie is not a destructive chewer, she’s just never experienced a collar or a leash, and at first, it irritated her, but she’s getting the hang of it.

Gracie will be fully vetted and spayed shortly. We believe she may be a Golden Retriever German Shepherd mix, but we’ll give Holly the last word on breed identification. She sure does look like Leena.

Gracie got a quick bath today. She and Carter did NOT like the water at first, but they adjusted quickly, especially with hot dog bites as treats!

She really is a wonderful dog that is very affectionate toward young children!

Update: we have a donation to pay for Gracie’s heartworm treatment with Dr. Susan Wayne at Murphy’s Vet Clinic in Sanford. Doc Wayne uses the slow-kill method, which I believe is the best course of action for Gracie.

Gracie received her heartworm treatment last week, and she is doing fantastic. Her foster Lynne explains that her behavior is getting better everyday. Paul Pipitone, behaviorist and trainer, evaluated Gracie and gave Lynne some pointers. Gracie has come a long way in a very short period of time.

Gracie was adopted, and today, she is HW negative.
