The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

Kudos gets a Get Out of Jail Free Card-Adopted

Kudos, a stray at a shelter in Huntsville, Alabama was pulled by Stephanie Walker, who is fostering him until transport can be arranged. This stunning Saluki stopped me in my tracks when I first saw his photos. Saluki/Border Collie maybe? I’m sure after we can evaluate his temperament, we’ll just know… you know? Kudos is approximately 8 months old, and I’m confident that he will be a stunning and graceful adult (when he grows into his legs that is). Stephanie had him bathed immediately after picking him up, and I hear he’s sleeping at her feet right now. So, we won’t disturb him! We’ll just wait for more photos and news about this happy guy! Welcome Kudos, and thanks Stephanie!

And the debate has just now started as to Kudos’ breed. Collie? Saluki? NOT Afghan Hound for sure, but what? I would love to lean toward the collie side, but those legs scream Saluki! Stay tuned!

Stephanie Walker Wrote: “I would like to sincerely thank Huntsville Animal Service’s Director, Dr. Karen Sheppard, for allowing me to privately adopt Kudos in preparation for his rescue with The Dog Liberator. Since The DogLiberator is not currently a Huntsville City Council approved Rescue as they cannot commit to a set number of rescues per year from HAS. Everyone at HAS was very accommodating and I thank them for allowing me to rescue this very special and lovable dog. I hope to once again work with HAS and continue to save additional lives.”

Update: Kudos has a lot of new photos on his photo album in Facebook, here’s a sample of just a few of them! He’s described as all puppy, playful, fun and full of energy!

Update: Kudos arrived yesterday from a transport completed by Stephanie Walker and Zondra. We had a chance to meet him, have him micro-chipped and the last leg of his transport stopped in Clearwater where he is being fostered by Lynne Deal. Kudos is a very young and incredibly athletic pup that loves everyone and everything. Kudos will need a lot of room to play!

Adoption Update: Kudos has been adopted by his fosters, Mark & Leslie. It appears that while we were arranging meets for this boy, his desire to follow Mark around become more and more noticeable. Goes to show ya, Dogs choose their owners, and Kudos made himself VERY clear. What’s good about this, is that Kudos will be The Dog Liberator’s Mascot for our Clearwater-based fosters. Can’t wait for photos!

  1. I'm so glad that this beautiful boy was saved and will soon find his forever home! When I started taking pics of dogs in the stray hold at Huntsville Animal Services I never imagined that my Bullies (and More!) Needing Rescue album would generate such publicity and so many lives would be saved! Thanks so much to everyone who has crossposted this beautiful boy and helped him find a rescue!
