McCartney – Recovered and Ready! ~ Adopted

McCartney – Recovered and Ready! ~ Adopted
Laid Back and Easygoing

McCartney is being fostered by Kevin & Mel in Kissimmee, and has recovered marvelously! He is now figuring out how much fun it is to be a dog!

He will make an incredible companion for any family. He loves other dogs, he loves to cuddle, and he is not the “in your face” type border collie. If you read what McCartney had to go through just to start his new life in rescue, I think you’ll see how big his heart truly is! Check our his photos on Facebook!

History:

11/20/11: Thank you for your kind donations, thoughts and prayers for McCartney. You have helped us raise $300 for his care. As we continue to administer new medications and as I approve additional testing, the cost for his care will continue. Rest assured, the folks at Val-u-vet are doing whatever they can to keep his cost as low as possible, without scrimping on his care. I will continue to keep you updated, and thank you for your help. I did not want to leave him today.  Click here to access his Chipin Account

11/22/11:  McCartney’s fever continued to drop, until yesterday he was a stable 102 and was released from the hospital.  Dr. Oliver and the staff at Val-u-vet did a fantastic job saving this boy.  I picked him up yesterday, and Kevin came over to foster him at his home.  McCartney was thrilled to see Kevin again.  McCartney is just a pup, maybe 6-8 months old and still has that puppy joy in him, after all he has been through.  Thank you everyone for your support, thoughts, and prayers!

“His condition WAS Poor” – 11/18/2011

11/18/11: McCartney’s fever was 104.6, then 103.6 and today he is 102.3, so we are seeing some improvements. Today, I met with Dr. Oliver and we are going to do x-rays and another blood test. We may introduce a second antibiotic. McCartney has no life in his eyes, he does not raise his head… it appears he may be shutting down. The staff at Val-u-vet are giving him extra attention and affection. Dr. Oliver classifies his condition as “Poor”. He just has to pull through this.
McCartney comes to us from Walton County Animal Services. He is a very young Border Collie. We know very little about him because he is at Aloma Jancy Animal Hospital. McCartney was transported last week, and once the people of Aloma Jancy examined him, we decided he would stay there to recover from his neuter. For reasons unknown to us, he is experiencing massive swelling and discomfort. All of the necessary procedures are being done to make him comfortable until he is fully healed.

Update: McCartney was transferred to Dr. Oliver of Val-u-Vet in Deltona, and operated on.  He is resting, but his temperature has not gone down.  He is on strong antibiotics and we’re hoping that he will pull through.  The surgery showed that one of his blood vessels was not “tied off” and blood clots were present.  He is fighting an upper respiratory infection.  I have created a Chip In to help pay for McCartney’s medical expenses. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

11/23/11: McCartney is feeling so much better! Thank you to everybody who contributed to his care, and kept McCartney in their thoughts and prayers. He is incredibly upbeat and happy to be home. McCartney is incredibly affectionate and loves to just snuggle up on the couch with you!

11/29/11: McCartney is doing so well! He has started playing with the other dogs! He is still a little bit unsure of some things, like going in and out of doorways, but he is rapidly getting over those little issues. He and MacGyver are becoming best friends. His favorite game is to chase MacGyver while MacGyver fetches the ball. He does like toys, but he prefers to play with the other dogs. He is such a sweet boy. He absolutely LOVES to lay on the couch next to you while you love on him! He will make the perfect companion for anybody!

McCartney goes home!

12/3/11:  McCartney has been adopted by Janet and Mike Dever!  “Well when I met Janet, Mike and their beautiful dog Bella, my dreams came true for McCartney. Janet explained to me how much they spoil Bella and how much they look forward to spoiling McCartney. And if that wasn’t enough, McCartney gave me his instant approval. He loved Bella the moment he saw her, and warmed up to Janet and Mike faster than I’ve seen him with any stranger. I couldn’t be happier for McCartney and his new family, and my favorite part is that they live 10 minutes away from me, so I can still see McCartney from time to time! Thank you Janet and Mike for giving this wonderful boy the life he truly deserves!” – Kevin
