The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

Meet Moonpie!

Moonpie is a young female who is very happy, seems eager to play with other dogs, and friendly. We are currently evaluating Moonpie, and will provide details shortly. Moonpie is being fostered by Lynne Flannery. We are currently estimating her to be between 1-2 years old, but will confirm that with our vet next week.

She reminds me of Maureen’s Hope!

If you are considering Moonpie for your family, please read about our adoption process and then e-mail gisele.thedogliberator@gmail.com

Foster Update:

Lynne informs me that Moonpie is doing great, she is very excited when Lynne comes home. She’s settling in the other dogs, and ignores the cat… this is a great sign!

December 5th Update:

Moonpie absolutely loves her nylabone, and has never chewed on anything else! She has a cute way of trotting ahead and peeking back over her shoulder as if to say “are you still following me?”. She is excited to see me when I get home, but quickly settles down to chew on her bone or lie down quietly. No problems in the kitchen or with begging when I sit down on the couch to eat.

January 27th Update:

Here is a picture of Moonpie with her new family. She is such a sweetie and I am thinking about taking her to trainings to become a therapy dog soon. I am a speech therapist and would love to incorperate her into some of my sessions and do community work with her!
