05/30/13 Update:  Osbourne’s neuter went well yesterday.  Dr. Oliver checked his nostril and did an x-ray… he found nothing.  After talking with Laura, she said after his Alabama transport, her son noticed he was sneezing like crazy.  So I figure since he rode shot gun, he may have had his head out the window, a bug flew into his nose, and bit him!  If this was a wasp, that would be a big ouch!  We believe he sneezed the bug out, but now he is left with a boo boo he can’t scratch!  Three weeks of antibiotics and some allergy meds and he’ll be just fine!

This gorgeous boy was rescued from Blount County, Alabama by a host of good Samaritans!  He is being fostered by Laura at the moment, and will be transported to me tomorrow.  He will visit the vet next week, and be neutered.  He will be available for adoption at that time.  We don’t very much at his boy, but he is said to be a wonderful dog, friendly and kind.

We took a lot of photos of him yesterday, so please visit his album on Facebook.

Laura mentioned that she noticed a yellow discharge from his nose, and since he was being transported to me yesterday (Saturday) I felt he could see the Vet as soon as I got him, which is what we did this morning. There is blood coming from his nostril, and I’ve never seen anything like this ever.

Dr. Kim examined him thoroughly, and she suspects it’s Kennel Cough, yet he’s not coughing… yet. Dr. Kim works not only at Newman Veterinary Centers, but she also works for the SPCA, and she a lot more experience than I do! He had a Vitamin B injection today, and he’s on Doxy, and Pred, along with antibiotic nose drops. Dr. Kim believes he is about three years of age, and Ray, the Vet Tech fell in love with Osbourne! “If I could keep him, I’d adopt this one for sure!”

Osbourne is doing well, but you can tell he doesn’t feel good. He did NOT have a temperature, which is great. I hope we caught this in time, preventing it from becoming a secondary infection or worse, pneumonia.

I noticed that he is a very highly intelligent, he actually watched the television in the waiting room at the Vet’s office. He also has a strong herding instinct, and last night he was very interested in the soccer ball. He did meet the pack last night, and there were no issues. I’m going to focus on his meds, and good nutrition, he is very underweight. He will be de-wormed tonight, and hopefully, in a few days, we’ll have a brand new OZ to show off! If you can afford to donate toward Osbourne’s Veterinary Care, we really appreciate your help.
