Rowdy the Aussie Puppy ~ Adopted

Rowdy the Aussie Puppy ~ Adopted
Hiding in the tall grass

When I was sent a photo of two little Aussie puppies, my heart broke. It was like looking at what our Tenakee must have looked like as a puppy. He was our red Aussie, who died unexpectedly at six from lymphoma. These two little pups…. oh, I had to save them!

Sherrie was able to pull them from Gordon Animal Control in Georgia. She found their paperwork and learned that they were picked up in a park where they and their parents were running free. The mother appeared to be a tri-colored Australian Shepherd. The male looked like a Gordan Setter. No wonder these two are so spectacular!

In the morning sun

Rowdy and Rhody are very similar in appearance and personality. The primary difference is that Rowdy has more black on his muzzle.  You can see many photos of Rowdy is his Photo Album.

They are quite young, I estimate born around Easter. They love to wrestle and play. Rowdy has no sense of how small he is and really strives to keep up with the big boys.   I’m glad we were able to save them. Now to find them each their wonderful home!

If you think that you might want to give Rowdy his loving home, then please first read our Dog Tips page then review our adoption process and e-mail holly.thedogliberator@gmail.com

June 11th Update:

Showing off on the deck chair

Today Courtney came to play. She is the young lady who drove this litter from Atlanta to my home. She told me the Rowdy sat in her lap virtually the whole way! lol We had such a nice afternoon, talking and rubbing puppy bellies! At one point she decided to see if the puppies would like to play with a rope toy. The answer was an unqualified “YES!” Rowdy and Rhody think that any excuse is a good excuse to wrestle!

June 14th Update:

You talkin' to me?

Rowdy is doing great. I was a little concerned about him and his brother when they first came because they seemed awfully small to have been neutered. But I apparently had not reason for worry. They’ve more than double in size since their arrival, play and run with the best of them, and simply love to be held and made much over. As with all the puppies, I’ve switched Rowdy to all homemade food. Andi Brown, who adopted our Jangle, gave me copy of her book, The Whole Pet Diet, and it has changed my world. Eating chicken stew every day, stirring in Halo’s Dream Coat, and occasionally adding yogurt, alphalpha, and liver, Rowdy has developed the classic puppy belly that I just adore. He reminds me of my Pennsylvania Dutch Grandpa who would hum when he ate pie!

Headed home with Don and Sheila!

June 24th Update:

Rowdy has found his home!  Don and Sheila met all the puppies, but it was quickly apparent that Rowdy was the one! Could he have been any cuter?  It’s a good thing that Rowdy likes cats, since they have several.  I asked them to let me know what they name Rowdy.  Having watched him play with the other puppies, Don grinned and said, “Oh, I think Rowdy fits him!”    I see fun days ahead!
