Digit is Home!

02/10/13: Digit was adopted by Audrey and her family from North Miami! Can’t wait for updates!

02/11/13  Adoption Update:

Gisele,
Just wanted you to know that digit sat in the car like a perfect lady.  She got to the farm and we put on her on a long lunge line so she could run a bit more openly.  The girls took her into one pasture and played fetch for a while – Digit loved it!

After she was tired out enough we gave her a bath – she was incredible in the tub too!  She  is very trusting and a sweet sweet girl.  Erika loves her!

The drive home to Miami was totally uneventful.  She sat on the back seat and went to sleep after a bit.  She was awesome in the house and Erika can’t wait to get home from school to play with her.  I will keep you posted on her journey.  ~Audrey

Digit has incredible ball-drive

Digit is a nine month-old female Border Collie.  I was asked to rescue her by Shannon Walker.  Here’s what she shared with me:

Here’s info from the person that has her. Apparently this person took her in because the family that had her couldn’t afford to take care of her. She was actually born in April so going on 9 mos old.

They have taken her to the vet and she has been tested and is up to date on vaccines. Here’s what Jhante says about her:

“I spoke with you on the phone tonight about rehoming the border collie puppy.

I have attatched some photos of her.  I will get a printout of her vet record as well.  Some info on her that will hopefully help her find a good home:  She was born in April and is purebred, but as far as I know there are no papers.

Just stunning!

She comes to her name: Digit.  She knows ‘sit’,  ‘leave it’, and will play fetch.  She is an excellent swimmer and LOVES water! Our neighbor has a pond and we have taken her there to run and swim. Gets along with other dogs, horses, and cats. She has been on a leash, but isn’t yet used to it.  Just let me know what you need from here.”

flown to find her forever home

01/25/13:  Digit was flown to Florida Friday via Jeff Bennett and Pilots-N-Paws.  During her first night with me I noticed she was very skittish and unsure of herself.  I let her decompress, gave her some of Andi Brown’s chicken stew and de-wormer.  She is very underweight.

On Saturday, she was already more relaxed.  She had some very runny stool, but I’m not very concerned, I think it’s just stress.

Sunday night, she really great time.  She played with Danielle, and showed her intense ball-drive.  I also introduced her to the pack, and she did very well.  They like her, which is a sign that she is a great dog!

Considering her age, size, breed, and incredible ball-drive, I think Digit would love to have a full-time job.  She would be great in herding, agility and disc, but she would also make an awesome soccer dog.  More importantly, I think she can be trained to do a much more serious job and professional job, like working for the police department.  Yes, she is that good.

The Ultimate Border Collie

I’ll continue to evaluate her, and provide updates soon!  In the meantime, she reminds me a lot of Shy Shannon, and I really love her!

Her photos can be viewed on Facebook.

02/05/13 Update:  Digit is a joy to foster.  She is obedient and affectionate.  She incredibly intelligent.  Her ball drive is not over the top to the point where she is obsessive, she just loves to play!  Digit is good with all dogs, she is very submissive.  She is house trained, crate trained, and great with kids.  Digit is a living doll!

  1. Hello, My name Is Tanya, we have a border named Tempo and have been looking for a friend for him since our other border passed away. I saw this post of Digit and she looks like an absolute sweet heart. I was wondering if you could tell me where you are located, and if she is still available. We also have a cat, Java, and a parrot, Pesto, do you know how she is with other animals?
    looking forward response
    Tanya
