The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

Nicolai and Tatiana

Nicolai and Tatiana

Holly believes these two litter mates are Collies. They are too young to tell, but Holly and I always argue about breed identification. They come to us from Becky Harshman and she said they are collie pups. I see Border Collie here, but who am I, except always out voted!

AND WHO CARES!!! They are gorgeous. Only the nose will tell us for sure in the upcoming weeks, and possibly temperament. Holly loves these two! This is the first time I’ve been jealous of my fosters!!!!

Nicolai is the black and white male, Titiana is the golden female.

Foster Update:
When these two angels arrived, they were wiped out from a 12 hour trip. Tatiana looked especially under the weather. But the next day she perked up when I fed her some canned dog food. Nicolai is still a bit quiet, but he’s coming around fine. I think that their natural temperment is on the quiet side ~ wow! wouldn’t that be wonderful!
Tatiana is a real princess. She always sits “just so” with her front feet together like a lady. I’ve never seen her hyper ~ she trots along, not one to be rushed. She is very people oriented and will sneak around my legs and back into the house when I let all the puppies out. She is a doll! I have lots of photos of her in her photo album!
Nicolai is the tall, dark and handsome type. He is still recovering from his trip, so he loves to be held in your arms like a baby or up against your shoulder. His ears are looking quite perky like they will be standing up on their own soon. I can’t help but to wonder if he will be this mellow once he is back to 100%…. lol I’ll keep adding photos to his photo album!

Tatiana Adopted! ~ 2 June

Yesterday was the best day of Tatiana’s life. She went home with her new family, Jeff, Erin and Blake. It was love at first sight for everyone, and Tatiana didn’t even toss me a look over her shoulder as she headed out the door. I couldn’t be happier!!! ~ Holly

Tatiana’s first night in her new home. Life is good!!!

3 June Update:

Nicolai has really made the adjustment to home living! As I type this, he is curled up asleep on a dog bed next to Possum the Aussie puppy. He has met the cats and decided that they really aren’t that interesting. I think that Baranov, my 17-pound orange tabby, is actually a little disappointed ~ he likes teaching dogs who is boss! No lessons required with this little one; sorry, Baranov.

Nicolai is really handsome. His left ear sticks straight up and I expect the right one to join it shortly. I think his coat will be a medium length. It isn’t pitch black; in certain light it has brown hues to it. Very very pretty. This is a terrific puppy who has captured my husband’s heart. Quick, someone come adopt him before it’s too late! 🙂

Nicolai Adopted !!! ~ 7 June

Today my Nicolai met his forever family! He is now at home in Tampa with Liz and Linda. Plus he has two dog buddies to spend his days with. Life is good. And here is a neat little circle ~ Linda is friends of the mother of the fiance of the guy who adopted Sierra, the Aussie pup who was transported to us with Nicolai from a shelter in Alabama. (I’ll let you weave your way back through those connections again, but trust me, it’s neat!) I’m so happy my little Nicolai has his home!

Adoption Update: Linda Ridenhour June 7 at 11:26am
Hey, I am Maureen Janousek’s friend and Liz and I adopted Neko yesterday. He just was given a clean bill of health by our Vet and she was very impressed with your organization.
