The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

  1. There is a pet store in the Melbourne Square Mall that sells puppies. I went in there once and spoke with the owner. I asked him where the puppies come from and he told me they come from a breeder. At the time there were approx. 10 puppies in the store. Each a different breed. I specifically asked him if the puppies in his store were products of puppy mills and he answered they were not. He told me all of his puppies come from a kennel by the name of Heartland. A google search indicates this is a ‘breeder’ of 9 different breeds located in Nebraska. If that isn’t a puppy mill I don’t know what is. I have never returned to that store. I refuse to even buy a collar from them.

    Anyway, wouldn’t it be great if every city and state adopted a law to ban pet shops selling dogs? I look forward to that day.
