Do not adjust your sets

You are not hallucinating, nor have you entered the twilight zone!  There are many reasons why we have been away, and many reasons why we have returned, but we’ll cover that later.  The response I have received from many of you is so overwhelming, and I thank you.

At first I did not believe we really needed to continue updating this blog, until I learned that not everyone has Facebook!  We are going to continue doing the things that worked, and we will change the things that didn’t.

With regard to an update, we have lost China, then we lost Ozzie and Lady Di.  What a huge blow,  I still have Rosie, she is14 now!  Over the past several years, we have seen most of our dogs cross the bridge.  Claire Bear just passed away a few months ago.  She lived an amazingly long life!  Bart is still around, making all of us smile!  Pebbles, now Zoe, is 17 years old, and we baby sit her from time to time.  Amazing?  I think so!  Most of our dogs lived a very long and healthy life, more importantly, they were not just loved, but adored.

Because of my personal circumstances right now, I can not foster from my home.  Also, we do not have a Veterinarian.  In 2019, I requested a quote for an X-ray, it was $50.00,  I called last week, same vet, for a quote for one X-ray, it was $400.  If we used one of our vets here, our adoptions fees would be over $1,000.  Ridiculous.

Many big fancy companies are trying to create “clear the shelters” campaigns.  They don’t understand the stress that puts Shelters through.  I like to take a different approach.

Why not do what  we can to keep dogs out of the shelters?  Why not create a Shelter Prevention Campaign? That’s what I’m pondering!

I jumped back into rescue about three weeks ago.  We re-homed 4 dogs so far, more importantly, none of  the dogs experienced the trauma of going to the pound, because with our assistance, they were adopted by their owners.  The real beauty is three of the dogs were adopted by former adopters, and that is pure joy!  Speaking of joy, owners who are surrendering their dogs are never judged by us.  That’s not our job.  People deserve courtesy and respect, something that is missing in many internet interactions these days.  Don’t forget, I was adopted!

While the old Dog Liberator was unbelievably successful, there were a few folks who behind the scenes, caused me great pain and disappointment.  I shoved it under the rug for years, but when 2019 and 2020 rolled around, the COVID era was a disaster for us.  When it was over, I found it very hard to get back.  The names had changed, the rules had changed.  Maybe I convinced myself that I’m too old!  Regardless, let’s see where this takes us, and hopefully, this time, I’ve wrapped my heart in a little bit of Teflon!
