You may have seen us last week begging for donations to rescue three collie pups from Athens, Alabama.  The shelter described them as a bag of bones, and even wondered if they would make it.

After a few failed transport attempts, they arrived thanks to hard working volunteers!  They are incredibly scared and wouldn’t eat for a few days, but they are eating now.  They are emaciated and they are coughing, so they won’t be ready for adoption… well, until they’re ready!  But we sure can follow their progress!

Darla is the smallest of the group, and very shy.  We will be posting more photos on Facebook shortly, but here is their original shelter photo.

It is with deep sadness I share that Darla passed away in her sleep. While she was starting to eat, it wasn’t enough. Failure to thrive, they call it. We call it hearbreak.
