John Mulaney~ Adopted!

Named after the comedian himself, John Mulaney the puppy will keep you laughing and smiling all day long with his constant energy and love of life. An energetic puppy, Mulaney loves to run around outside with at least one more dog and loves to “herd” water from a hose. Though due to his age (around 4-5 months), he is still anxious in new places and hesitant to make new friends, but have no fear, it doesn’t take long for him to adjust. Also, puppy training classes are a must! He has a lot of pent up puppy energy and needs to learn how to redirect it in order to be the perfect friend for little children (ie. no jumping on the rambunctious toddlers).

When it comes to the end of the day, Mulaney loves to cuddle on the bed or the couch and nestle under the blankets. He is a total lover boy and a real sweetheart. If you want to learn more about this sweet baby boy, email us at adopt.thedogliberator@gmail.com!

Helios~ Adopted!

Helios is back with us at The DogLiberator! This little puppy is a lot bigger than we remember him being, but that doesn’t mean he is any less stinkin’ cute! He may have grown up in size, but he is still all puppy. He loves to run around the backyard and play with the pack almost as much as he loves to be a cuddle bug.  More photos of him will follow soon, if he ever slows down for us to take some that is!
If you are interested in adopting this big baby boy, let us know! Email us at adopt.thedogliberator@gmail.com!

History:

Helios is a bouncing baby boy who is always down for playtime, but also cuddles. He may be the biggest boy around, but that just means he is all the more lovable! He is roughly 2 months old and is a German Shepherd/ Collie mix. He loves to talk and play just as much as he loves to cuddle! Check out his Facebook album here  and email us at adopt.thedogliberator@gmail.com to learn more!

See more of Hera on her Facebook album here and if you would like to learn more please email us at adopt.thedogliberator@gmail.com!

Tripp~Adopted!

Tripp on the move!

Update: What a difference a day makes!

Rescued from Halifax, Trip has recovered and is ready to go.[/caption]

Mr. Tripp was examined by the vet, and he got a two thumbs up.  Tripp can now eat as much as he wants, without fear of pain!  We can see quite a difference in his personality now.  He is a happy bouncy boy with pogo sticks for legs!  Tripp would make a great Trick dog with the right owner.  We are working with him on recall and food guarding from other dogs.

What can we say?  He has a $1300 bum!

“Barney” AKA Tripp
Rescued from Halifax, Trip has recovered and is ready to go.

Found as a stray and left unclaimed at the shelter, Tripp is the newest pup to start his adventure with the Dog Liberator!! Tripp was very timid and unsure when introducing himself to us. He’s eyes were shifty and his attention was on high alert. It didn’t take long though for him to realize he was in good hands. Tripp was introduced on leash, but you could tell he preferred that there wasn’t any attachments. With some help from the Kennel gal we were able to get leashes switched and Tripp loaded into the van, headed towards his next destination.

Once in the van, Tripp started to realize he was no longer confined to the block walls of a shelter. With some puppy talk from Serena and a nice rub down while we drove Tripp was able to relax and enjoy the ride. We let the windows down and cruised on home. There was a beautiful moment in the car, when his eyes became soft. He nudged my hand and asked me keep rubbing him. He wanted the attention and touch and that was huge.

Although Tripp was not neutered he was pretty quick to behave in the pack. He walks around and pees on everything, but that part was expected. He got his name because he was more interested in staring out at the road, like he wanted to go on a Trip! As the first week past, we noticed some un-becoming behavior. He would snarl through the cage and refuse to come out to potty. After some team discussion we realized, none of use had physically seen him poop. Yet, we had all seen him attempt or appear to.

Tripp, on his his way to TDLTripp’s behavior was very sporadic. Times he would happily approach me for a quick pet. Others he did want anything to do with us. It finally came, the poop came explosively, in liquid form. Tripp himself did not enjoy the experience. He was in pain. It became apparent he needed to get checked out, after we noticed a bulge next to his anus.

After a trip to the vet, pun intended, we learned he had a hernia interfering with his bowel movement. He wasn’t happy about the exam, it was pretty painful. Once we were able to shed light on the problem, we were able to understand it was a serious problem. The vet recommended we get it repaired as soon as possible. It was becoming apparent his bad behavior was because he was in pain. Tripp had the potential to be an amazing dog, he just needed to get over this hurdle in his life.

The vet was able to operate and successfully repair the hernia, as well cut those nasty little nuggets off as well. The first few days of recovery was pretty easy. Doctors gave him some nice drugs to help him through. Here we are a week out of surgery and Tripp is doing better than ever. He is a happy boy who still loves to pee on everything!

Although he doesn’t play with any of the other dogs, he accepts them and tolerates them well. The pack also respects his space and his sore bum. Tripp has had no aggressive moments since the medical issue was attended too. He does appear to guard his food and certainly you cannot get the bowl down fast enough for him. He may even try to knock it out of your hand! Overall Tripp is a pretty swell guy and will make a great friend to someone someday soon.

Destiny ~ Adopted

Cant stop Destiny from smiling!

Cant stop Destiny from smiling!

Destiny – The pre determined , usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events. Indeed, it was inevitable for us not to get our hands on this beautiful girl.  Lady was found as a stray and left unclaimed at the shelter for 21 days! She couldn’t wait to hitch a ride in the TDL van along with Tripp! With  age in her face and the waddle in her walk, we knew this girl was older then Rumpelstiltskin, yet not as old as our Wally boy. She needed us to find someone who would give her the love and attention she needs to make her final years the most pleasurable.

Destiny was in rough shape when she came to us. As excepted with senior dogs, she had fatty lumps and bumps all over. Nails so long it hurt to walk and grimy fur. The shelter girls told us they spent 5 hours grooming her before. I can only imagine the mats they got off. We went ahead and gave her a spa day! Serena trimmed those nails again and tidied up some of her rough edges. A good soaking and scrub down proved to be much needed! Once it was all done, she was feeling refreshed and full of life!

While she was slow to waddle, she was happy to be included in the pack! You could find Destiny laying in the sun most days giving a bark to the younger dogs running by! She would make such a fuss. I think she was cheering them on as they zoomed by. Density had free roam of the back porch, which she was happy about! Some mornings she would be a road block and moan at the others for trying to pass to go outside. Oh bother.  What a grumpy ol lady she could be. She was still so full of life she just had to be heard!

Destiny surrounded by her new pack!

Destiny surrounded by her new pack!

It wasn’t long before a perfect adopter came along who happened to love collies. Mary Fischetti of Edgewater FL told us Destiny would fit well with her pack! Already having 3 Collies herself, she knew just how to let Destiny run her course! She is  the oldest of the bunch but she will live out her days in pure comfort and a safe environment where she would no longer be left unclaimed.

Vivi ~ Adopted!

IMG_0666Vivi is an 8 month old female tricolor collie who comes to us after major life changes have left her owner  unable to keep her. Vivi is already a big girl at 8 months so if you are looking for a larger size collie, she’s your girl! She is spayed and up to date on shots

IMG_0621Vivi is full of energy and loves to run and play. She will need a home which can provide her ample opportunity to exercise. She would be a great running buddy! She does get along with other dogs and cats but occasionally needs to be reminded  not to herd the smaller animals (she is a collie after all, and herding is in her blood). She would do well with another medium to large sized playmate and really enjoys bouncing and tussling.

IMG_0619Vivi is use to being crated when being left at home  and is house broken. She is very smart and with a little patience she learns quickly.

If you are interested in learning more about Vivi and beign considered as a potential adopter please read Our Adoption Process  and answer the questions presented in the article. Email answers to Adopt.TheDogLiberator@gmail.com

Valentine-adopted

pizap.com14245315470824

Valentine is a 2 year old female Collie girl. She is quite the doll and is still learning how to play with other dogs, so while she seems to socialize well, we would love to find her a home where she can be the primary princess!  She would do well as an only dog with no cats or small children (she likes to herd and doesn’t quite know her own size).

pizap.com14245299998051

She is truly a collie in her personality: determined, loving, clever, and she does have a bit of a herding instinct. She can play well with other dogs, though she currently seems like she could take it or leave it. She isn’t rough or excessive in her play with other dogs, but does need to be supervised as she is still figuring out how to play, and sometimes tries to herd her playmates instead. She loves people (& craves affection). Valentine is so clever she has already figured out how to work latches & doors. She has not shown  any food hoarding tendencies while in foster, and is good about taking pills.

pizap.com14245298661331

Valentine (left) with Foster Brother Bart who shows her how to play.

 Valentine 4.2

And a true blonde (we say this with all the love in our hearts) she can be a little ditzy from time to time and occasionally those walls just come out of nowhere; But try not to hold it against her.

She is learning basic commands and is a quick study (did we mention “smart?”).  She can be determined, and will need a good pack leader who is willing to let her know the rules and be consistent with her.  We believe with good boundaries she will flourish into an amazing family member and loving best friend.

If you are interested in adopting Valentine, please read Our Adoption Process .

Sirius (AKA Kitty) ~ Adopted!

I love the pool!

Sirius (aka Kitty) is an 8 year old Merle boy who comes to us after his Mother faced a series of very difficult events which now make it necessary to find these precious babies new homes. As you will see from how she writes, they are her beloved ones, she wants them to have wonderful lives, and she searched over 6 months to find just the right rescue for them.

His owner writes: “Kitty is my baby boy and my heart. He loves snuggling, putting his head in your arms, or snoofing your face. He knows how to shake, lay down, sit, stay, and come but is a bit hard headed and an escape artist. He loves loves loves squeaky toys, especially squeaky chicken or duck. He likes nothing more than to hop on the couch and have his ears scratched and his head petted. He loves bacon flavored treats but will honestly eat anything you put in front of him.

He is sensitive to heart worm meds and will get somewhat nauseated. He loves running in the grass and rolling his body in the couch. He will pull on the lead a bit but otherwise is a good walker.

He is the most sensitive of the collies and is devastated by a raised voice but is such a happy go lucky dog you can’t help but to love him. He has a shrill bark and will only bark when he feels threatened but no one comes to the house unannounced.”

Johannah is a young girl, we think around 5 months old. She’s very sweet and friendly, and has quickly become a foster mom to our new pups. We think she’d be a great therapy or CGC dog!

Muggs weighs about 32 lbs right now but he will continue to grow a bit more and will put on some weight as he is a bit underweight right now.

His shelter assessment shares that he is good with kids and other dogs, is in the middle range for energy and LOVES to play. He is sociable and energetic.

Jolene ~ Adopted!

994113_10153205230034792_4019262685380639102_n[1] Jolene was a last minute addition on transport yesterday, and we’re so very excited to have her! She’s a lovely little girl, around 1 1/2 years old and weighing in at only 15 pounds.

We’re not sure what breeds Jolene is. Our best guess is that she is a Beagle/Spaniel/Collie mix. Whatever she is, she’s absolutely adorable, and that’s a fact.

Jolene is very friendly with both men and women, and she’s had a dog buddy in the past. She’s very bright, but not hyper at all. A perfect little friend!
