Meet Shiloh ~ Adopted

Becky,
Here are photos of Kandys’ black&white border collie, Shiloh, including the ones on PetFinder. He’s smart and attentive, playful and energetic, just an all-around nice dog. When I had him on the leash at an event last month where he hadn’t had been with me before, he minded me and came with me on the leash and sat right down 
when I told him to, and looked into my face to see what I wanted. Border collies are such great dogs! Let me know if you need anything else — Annie
Shiloh is being fostered by Tom Mueller. I’m looking forward to receiving updates regarding his temperament. Shiloh is in much need of basic training, and I believe he is very young, because he’s unbelievably playful!

August 28 Update:
A couple of days ago Tom posted an update on Shiloh in the comments section of this blog, but I simply had to share this new tidbit: Shiloh is herding his St. Bernards! Oh, what I’d give to see that!!! Tom is wonderful at posting new insights of Shiloh in the comment section of this blog page. Make sure you read them. It is simply amazing what he has accomplished with this puppy. That basic training we thought he needed? Oh, Tom has done that and oh so much more! Don’t miss the progress reports in the comments!
Just a quick note–the boys are settling in nicely–and only day 2.
Yesterday, I was wondering if I made a mistake–they were so big, and so busy! They were a little excited and I am sure nervous about staying here. They were bigger than I had imagined–so we had to go out and buy bigger crates yesterday.
Their was a little power struggle between Shelby and Shiloh, but they seem to have worked things out. Our little old lady Lucy seems OK with them too. They have respected her, that is what we needed.
My daughter has taken quite a shine to Shiloh–and I am so happy as Lucy is her dog, and we know her days are numbered. I think Shiloh was sent to help her get through it–you have to admit–he isn’t much of a Border Collie. However, he is a lot like Lucy and such a sweet boy. He is really quite amazing.
Emmitt is really quite beautiful, but that name has to go! We are thinking of calling him Jack, but haven’t decided for sure. I took him for a walk tonight–he was excellent. He is really such a sweethart–and he talks Collie talk–I love it!
They really are great–and so happy all the time. I think they are just what we needed.
Will keep you posted on their progress.
October 28th Update
I think Shiloh loves everyone. He really is a scream–this morning wanted Kenny to get up, was kissing him with no luck, so he got down and just started barking. I really am taken with Emmitt, but I think Shiloh is as big a lover as Em. Shiloh also hides bones–puts them under pillows on couches, chairs and beds–pretty funny.
Will try getting some pictures this week-end. You did a nice job with them. Will be in touch. Lynette
November 13 Update:
Checking in–the boys are doing well. We are enjoying their company. I am able to take them both out for a walk and they do very well. They seem to be settling in well. It is quite different for us to have such active dogs as all of ours were 10 or over. They are a lot of fun. Have been taking pictures, will send as soon within the next couple of weeks.
Emmitt is quite sweet, and climbs up on top of me in the evening to hang out. I don’t know if I have ever seen such long legs has Emmitt has. No we haven’t figured out a better name for him. Shiloh is also very affectionate. He is a pretty smart guy.
I did have to restrict the raw hide bones to crate time as was causing too much trouble. Shiloh got into it with Shelby a couple of times and each time the raw hide was involved.
I finally found some toys that haven’t ripped to shreds–they like to pull and play.

Just a quick note to let you know they boys are doing fanstastic! The new dogs are now “our dogs.” They have brought much to our lives. Last year was hard for us loosing the 2 Border Collies. Then Shiloh and Emmitt came–they brought a lot of life to the house. Once Shelby got it across to Shiloh that she was top dog–they all have been getting along well. She is happy to see them when they come out of their crates in the morning. She has never been and only dog.
Emmitt is our gentle giant. He is still working the puppy out. We are 95% sure he has more Great Dane than BC. He is at least 3 inches taller than Shiloh now. When he stands up, be can kiss me in the face, and I am 5’7.” His legs are 19″ long. He is so cute!
Shiloh has quite a personality. Ashley calls him “sassy pants.” He is really quite a boy. He weights 70 lbs. He is always happy, and into everything. He has graduated to being able to sleep out of his crate. Our 15 yo Lucy died last week. She was Ashley, my daughter’s dog. Ashley told me that Shiloh really made it easier for her.
Am attaching a couple of pictures. I have been trying to get one with the 2 of them standing together, but they don’t cooperate so well. They are both doing very well

Shiloh and Emmitt now go to their crates like two gentlemen when I'm preparing their food, and wait politely, doors open, without being told!
They'll also usually go in their house any time I ask them to.

Shiloh and Emmitt are fitting right in. They are both so happy and affectionate. They have discovered that the pool is full of water that they can drink, but haven't ventured in yet. I believe Shiloh will be soon–front feet have been going in further and further. Shiloh also likes to talk. He tried to wake my husband up with kisses this morning, but when that didn't work he sat down and barked until he did get up. He really is a lot of fun. He is so affectionate–he is a really great dog.
