Dee Sullins of Hale County Humane Society e-mailed me photos of these puppies and asked if I would take them. Oh gosh, how cute are they!?! I mean, really? You have to ask?
SnickerDoodle is a big smaller than her brother SugarBear, but they are both as bouncey and playful as any puppy I have ever fostered. I asked Dee where they came from and he said that a woman found their momma and her babies on the side of the road. She couldn’t leave them, so she brought them to him. Precious. OK, but what breed are they? Well, that’s the question, now isn’t it! Dee says their momma is very much a mix, with Lab showing through. But these two? No, I see alot of Spaniel in them. They have a double coat, which reminds me of the Sheltland Sheepdogs I fostered last month. Really, they’re mystery dogs. I can’t hardly wait to see what they look like when they grow up! I doubt that they will be really big, maybe 45 pounds. I do know that they will be beautiful, both inside and out!
I have posted a ton of pictures of these two on their photo album. I can’t help it ~ they’re just so cute!!!
26 August Update:
Oh, we have really enjoyed getting to know these two puppies. They are adorable. They love to play. They play with each other, they play with the other puppies, they play with us. SugarBear is a bit more bold, not surprising since he is male and the larger of the two. Don’t feel sorry for SnickerDoodle ~ she likes to sneak into my flower garden and wait until I notice, then bound out with her tail wagging. They both like water: SugarBear paddle’s it out of the waterbowl, SnickerDoodle just sits in the bowl! They’ll both slow down from playing long enough to be held and given love. Actually, they’ll let you do that all day! Precious babies!
29 August Update:
I really need to put down the camera, but when you have a houseful of puppies, there is always something cute going on! Here the puppies are wrestling over a rope toy. Ya gotta love ’em!
September 1 Update:
Such fun this morning! The puppies had been outside for a while so I figured they had to be tuckered out. Before nap time, I let them in to run in the house for a while. What I didn’t realize is that they would really run! My daughter was sitting on the couch and quickly got a lapful of puppies. SnickerDoodle, who has been a bit shy the last couple of days, overcame that and joined the pile of puppies there. Meanwhile SugarBear got hold of the “unstuffed” raccoon toy and claimed it for his own. First he wedged himself between his crate and the wall so no one could get to it. When I got it away from him and tossed it into the living room, he wrestled all the other puppies for it. I caught some of the action on this video. I see two very happy little girls! SnickerDoodle was adopted on September 3rd by Bryan and Chelsea and their precious daughters Rebecca and Sarah. I was delighted to see how well SnickerDoodle responded to the little ones. She can be a bit hesitant sometimes but these two just brought out the sunshine in her! I’m so happy!
September 7th was SugarBear‘s happy day! When I first posted his photo on Facebook, Beckee sent me a message saying she wanted to meet him. But things happened and we weren’t able to get together. Then late at night on September 6th she sent me another e-mail. The next day, the family came and SugarBear shined! He had been waiting for them! This wonderful family adopted the German Shepherd Chaos from us just a couple of months ago. What wonderful days are ahead for them all!
