The Edge~ Adopted!

Update: While Edge was adopted and renamed Bowie, he was returned because of a move. He is everything a border collie is supposed to be. Like other dogs, he does have a few quirks that we are working on. Regardless, he is quite a love. Now the wait begins, as we review many emails of interest from potential adopters, we just have to find the right match!

12495235_10153806359909792_4858490976999881954_n

2016:  The Edge came to us with his two siblings, Wiley and Bono. Although his brother and sister look like Collie mixes, The Edge appears to be almost all Border Collie. We’re guessing that there must have been multiple fathers for this litter! Like his siblings, The Edge is very active and bright. He’s good with other dogs and friendly with people.

If you’d like to be considered for The Edge, please go here to learn all about our adoption process. We don’t use a traditional application, but we would like you to answer a few questions so we can get to know you better.

Leroy is only 5 months old, still just a baby! He is located in Deltona, FL.

We were asked to take Leroy after his first family dropped him off to be boarded at the vet, and decided they didn’t want him anymore… They surrendered him to the vet clinic, and then Precious Paws rescued him before he was euthanized and contacted us.

Foo (Aka Mr. Foo Fighter) ~ Adopted!

10274076_10153643013489792_3545052999004508993_n

Foo is an 8 month old Border Collie mix (we think border collie chihuahua as he is currently less than 20 lbs). Life hasn’t been easy for little Foo. He has scabs from being eaten up by bugs and currently has a cough (he is being treated for both right now).

12369249_10153643013624792_168998551917255450_n

Foo is scared. He wants to cuddle, wants to be your good boy, but is still learning it is okay to want all that, and that humans are nice and understanding. He is currently receiving lots of love, positive interactions, and some work on self-esteem. We expect to see him blossom quickly.

Check out his Photos on Facebook!

If you are interested in adopting Foo please read Our Adoption Process for the next steps.

“Tell me I am a good boy?”

12/24/15 Update: Oh goodness, Mr. Foo can’t catch a break….  Not only was he diagnosed Heartworm positive, but now he has some upper respiratory “fun” going on too. The good news is he is in the right place. We have fought off  both before and will do it again.  Foo will be on hold until we clear up the respiratory situation and as to the Heartworm, Foo will begin treatment shortly. Sir Rusty ~ Adopted!

Sir1  Rusty is a 9 month old purebred  border collie who comes to us with a shining reputation. He is great with other dogs and children, loves to work, and loves to cuddle and give kisses.

2

10/13/15 Update: When we first got Sir Rusty in we immediately thought of a former adopter who is great at giving a dog a job. When he heard about Sir Rusty he said yes!

Nathan Wilson (one of our awesome volunteers) adopted McCloud (now Asher) and trained with him to become a search and rescue team. Of 18 teams in their class only 3 graduated, and Nathan and Asher did it in half the time it normally takes.  Rusty is next in line for training. We are so happy for them all. Check out their Album on Facebook!

3/5/16 Update: Kazoo was returned due to no fault of her own, but don’t worry, she is already out and doing great. Kazoo was adopted by the Bessey family of Winter Garden. They have another BC who needed an energetic friend, and Kazoo fit the bill perfectly!

Minuet ~ Adopted!

smileAt the last minute we were sent a picture and asked the question “room for one more?” Look at that face! How could we say no to that fluffy smile?

Meet Minuet. She is a 3 month old border collie pup and has seen some tough times. She comes to us a little fragile, needing some TLC, but what better place for some TLC than TDL?

Coming off transport first impressions were that this little stinker is a total sweetie. She is a puppy and still has puppy tendencies, though she already has her big-girl pearly whites (don’t they look great?). She is being checked out at the vet now, but in the meantime check out her Photos on Facebook!

We are so very happy for them all! We already recieved a short update that she is looking longingly at the pool, but that will have to wait a little longer as she is still healing from her spay. Sounds like lots of fun in her future!

History:  Gisele,

I want to share with you the sweet momma (I named her Angel) and her three puppies that I am committed to finding safe, loving homes so that the rest of their lives can be much better than their beginning. I think that Denise Hoyle has already mentioned them to you. She had six, but three have been adopted.

This summer I met a young homeless woman, who had been living in the woods for over a year. She wanted a better life but would not abandon these creatures. My husband, a friend, and I arranged to pick them up on August 1st and drove them to my veterinarian’s clinic where they continue to receive exceptional care and love.

I am fortunate to be able to go each day and walk Angel and also spend time in the run with the babies getting lots of puppy love. Three puppies have recently been adopted by dear friends and I am continuing to reach out through emails, Facebook, and local rescues in the hopes that the others will find safe, loving, forever homes as well. In addition, I am desperately looking for a foster for Angel so that she can begin treatment for heart worms as soon as possible. Gisele, my vet believes that these babies are a border collie/shep mix. If you think you can help me, or offer any assistance finding a foster for Angel, please email me. Thank you for all that you do. ~ Joan Stough

I assured Joan, that after Angel receives her heartworm treatment, if she needs TDL to take her, we will!

If you can help us rescue these puppies, please be their Virtual Foster by visiting this page, http://thedogliberator.com/virtual-foster/

Angel’s Ruby~Adopted

Little Ruby

Little Ruby

Little Ruby is the runt of the litter.  She has an awesome personality, the entire litter is very healthy, and she happens to be my daughter’s favorite of the litter!  Going on 9 weeks, Ruby is packed with energy and is very intelligent!  You can see her photo album on Facebook.

This little pup is fearless!  When we put her in a top crate and open the door, she literally flies out of it.  I guess she trusts that we’ll catch her!  She has endless energy to play, she plays hard with toys, she is great with kids, and doing well with our pack.  She has such drive, and because I don’t think she’ll be a very big dog, she would be a perfect  performance/sports dog.  I would love to see her do flyball or agility.  I really do not think she is just another average family pet.  She is ready to play, and ready to learn!

Collies make great couches ~ Ruby

Collies make great couches ~ Ruby

10/01/13 Update:  I’m so happy that Ruby’s two siblings were adopted with adult dogs in the home.  These little pups really need an adult dog to help them along, and Ruby is learning quickly!  She has decided to bond with my Lady Di, and she is trying so hard to be part of the pack.  Everybody loves Ruby!

Making nice with Lady Di!

Baby Girl~Adopted

Debbie and Baby Girl

Debbie and Baby Girl

When a photo of this little pup came across my facebook page, I immediately thought of little Sara.  Little Sara was rescued by Steve Williams and Terry Watts .  She passed away in early June of 2011 to Parvo.  I asked Steve if I could get help, and he was on it immediately!  Then, I has Becky if we could get her transported, again, the answer was yes!

Debbie Donohue, who adopted Evie, volunteered to pick up Baby Girl from the airport yesterday, and drive her to my door!  Once here, I shared with her the story of little Sara; Debbie knows too well how hard it is to loose a pup, she had originally adopted Maggie May just a few months ago, and Maggie passed away to cancer.

Playtime! Baby Girl and Ralph

Playtime! Baby Girl and Ralph

But somehow it all comes full circle.  Once again, we all get to save a life, and eventually make a special family very happy with this new Baby Girl.  And she couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time.  She and Ralph Lauren are playing with each other, and she has lowered Ralph’s separation anxiety quite a bit.  She is a rough little girl!  Even though Ralph is double her size, she holds her own!

For those of you who have followed TDL for some time, you’re probably asking yourself if I’m insane!  I am fostering two puppies (little terrorists).

shelter photo

shelter photo

Baby Girl comes to us from Jackson County Animal Shelter in Gautier, Mississippi.  Her birth date is estimated to be the first week of August (she is 2 months old).  She is currently weighs a whopping 8 pounds.  She does have some mild discharge coming from her nose, nothing that I’m alarmed about yet.  I’m waiting to see if I hear a cough.  She’ll see Dr. Oliver at Newman Veterinary Centers soon!

Now that I’ve met her in person, that one white ear reminds me of Marbles!  You can see many more photos of her on Facebook.

I haven’t even had her for 24 hours yet, but what I can tell you is, she is a survivor!  She claims her food, loves her toys and I don’t think she knows how to walk from point A to point B.  She runs.  She runs like the wind!

Stinking Cute!

Stinking Cute!

She’s not going to be a couch potato like some of our Border Collies.  That’s why adopting a Border Collie mix is so great, they have the smarts of the Border Collie, but the temperament of a calmer breed, like Tobuscus.  No, Baby Girl is not going to be a couch potato!  She’s a non-stop-go girl… are we there yet?  I’ve even seen her do the crouch down and get ready to ambush position!    She’s everything a Border Collie should be!

My Daughter Sarah, is in Love!

We want to thank everyone who helped Baby Girl get to TDL, especially volunteer pilot Ed for his life saving flight, Debbie, Steve, Becky and of course, her sponsor who donated toward her care through our Veterinary Care Fund.

Daddy's Gotcha!

Daddy’s Gotcha!

08/22/13 Update: Baby Girl is headed to Parkland, Florida where she will be Scott & Alaina’s new pup… This Dad is going to be the most popular Dad in the neighborhood! Wait till his two kids see this puppy!!! Will they do their homework tonight? NOT!!!
