The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

A Great New Orleans Dog Rescue

One of the things that I always wished for while I was volunteering for rescues, was that rescues would work together, sharing information, tips, and helping each other out. That’s exactly what’s happened when our Holly Ryerson found one of her high school friends on Facebook, and learned that Madelin was in fact knee deep in rescue. After Katrina, her entire rescue fell flat on its face when all of her volunteers, and financial supporters blew away with the hurricane. Holly, Madelin and I have worked together in giving her rescue a face lift by designing her blog, and posting her video on YouTube.

Used Dogs Rescue has an awesome new blog, and I’m looking forward to reading not only about her new rescued dogs, but about her memories of the days of Katrina.

  1. Good Morning Dog Liberator!

Thanks SO MUCH Holly and Gisele. It seems like all too often rescuers don't work together well or often enough, in spite of the fact that we are all passionate about the same cause. Your support has been so encouraging to me. Support from the Dog Liberator has revitalized my sense of what is possible! As everyone knows, New Orleans has had it's own special set of challenges and they have really affected the animals, so as difficult as rescue can be for all of us, you guys have helped me feel like I'm not all alone walking against the wind and constantly uphill!! You guys are WONDERFULLY AWESOME!!!

  2. Madalin,

It has been our joy to help you. Everyone needs someone to come alongside them sometimes, to hold up their arms when they grow wearing. You are doing something important in New Orleans and it is our pleasure to do anything to make it happen!

    Holly
