Buttons Sparkles – Adoptable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel~Adopted

Buttons SparklesWe have every reason to believe that this little boy was abused somehow when he was young. He may have been picked up and dropped, thrown, or at the least, cornered and scolded. If handled correctly, Buttons is the perfect dog!

History: for being such a small little man, this dog has a million nicknames names, Buttons, Sparkles, even Elvis!  He was labeled a fear-biter, but the minute the shelter let him out of his crate, he ran to Terri and jumped in her lap… I think he’s been there ever since!  He weighs about 18 pounds, and is ready to be adopted!  He would make a senior citizen very happy, as he loves to cuddle and is very affectionate!

His photos can be viewed on Facebook.

Buttons SparklesButtons, while incredibly affectionate and very much a velcro dog, there are things that make him very fearful, like going through the doorway to go outside.  I suspect that as a puppy, when he had accidents in the house, his former owners grabbed him and threw him outside.  Great…  We are working with him, trying to show him that it’s okay, in the meantime, handling him in a hurried fashion or with assertiveness is a recipe for disaster.  Buttons needs a patient owner, that is experienced with fearful dogs, someone that can provide him with a routine, and make him feel safe.  He would probably thrive in a home with a calm owner that wants a lap dog!

I'll be your little man!

Update:  Slowly Buttons was introduced to a pack of playful dogs, and he joined in!  Woo Hoo!

Update:  Cindy and George have wanted Buttons since we first posted him, but couldn’t get up to Georgia to scoop him up!  It happened last Saturday, they met, fell in love, and brought him home!
