The Dog Liberatorâ„¢

The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. The Dog Liberator focuses in rescuing the herding breed, which consists of Border Collies, Shepherds, Sheepdogs, Aussies, Collies, and Deaf/Blind Dogs.

Filly, the little Border Collie ~ Adopted

Filly was originally called Lilly, however, in one week I received three females named Lilly… we all know that Holly will NOT tolerate THAT!

Filly is being fostered by Jesse, and she needs someone like Jesse to show her how to be a dog! She is getting some social training, and learning how to be part of a good pack. I’m confident that within a short period of time, Jesse will turn her around.

Working with unsocialized, shy, fearful dogs is very rewarding, but time-consuming.

Jesse is sharing his progress with Filly on his blog and the comments section here, and I look forward to hearing about her progress. You can see more photos of Filly in her photo album.

September 5th Update:

Filly, now “Philly” after the city, is on her way to her new home in Delray Beach with Barry and Susan. She and her proud new parents will enroll in obedience classes, and doggie daycare to continue improving on her social skills.

  1. I'm in the proccess of writing something for Filly on my blog, but I don't believe in rushing to conclusions with troubled dogs. She's shown some improvement, but when dealing with cases that show signs of trauma, I defer to Wyatt Earp "hurry up and take your time."

I will post a thorough evaluation this week!

  2. I'm so happy to see she's been adopted! I drove her from Athens to Birmingham and even took the photo of her sticking her tongue out at me. I believe she was commenting on my driving skills…

Congratulations Barry & Susan – you have an adorable new family member!
