Shy Katie Delivers 9 Puppies

Katie is estimated to be three years old. She is described as being shy submissive, and very loving.
Mark, Katie’s foster, reports that all of the dogs are fully crate-trained, they do not bark or whine in their crates, they are fully housebroken, and get along wonderfully. Katie has been cat tested and loves children as well.
Since the pack was surrendered together, and based on their condition, we can only assume that they were owned by a hobby breeder.
Emaciated, suffering from an upper respiratory infection, and severely matted, these dogs are bouncing back quickly. That’s the power of a good vet, and a great foster home will do!
Katie was examined carefully by our vet at Val-u-vet, and it appears that she has sustained an injury, that has left noticeable scars on her face. We suspect the injury was caused by a barbed wire fence. Regardless, she is healing nicely.
It amazes me how long it takes to neglect a dog, and how quickly it takes to get them back on their feet. Katie is looking 100% better since she came to us off of transport.
I look forward to her updates!
Katie’s photo album can be viewed on Facebook.
Update on Katie made on Facebook, she is pregnant.
Less than a week after she arrived, her foster Mark suspected she might be pregnant. It was hard to tell at first, because she was so emaciated. A trip to Lynne’s vet confirmed she is due very soon. Lynne has taken over as Katie’s foster, and is ready to whelp the puppies!
01/30/11 Update: Katie has delivered 9 puppies!
Special thanks to BJ McIlroy for transporting, Dr. Oliver and Melissa with Val-u-Vet of Deltona, Mark & Leslie Whalen who were Katie’s first fosters. Special Thanks to Lynne Deal who is fostering Katie and whelped the puppies, and Dr. Mac McGlamery who has been caring for Katie, and will be vetting her pups.
Katie’s puppies will not be ready to go to their forever home until the beginning of April at the very earliest, and most likely closer to Easter. We will not be accepting applications or deposits for them until about two weeks before that time. We believe it is vital to know the personality of the individual puppy before we can place it in the right home. We will post both here and on our Facebook page when they are available for application. Please do not contact us about them before that as we do not have the ability to keep applications on hold. Thank you for this kindness!

very very VERY interested in Katie. Our current dog(Toby) is a goldie/BC mix who was a rescue. we were his 5th home and he was only 3 1/2 months! needless to say he has been with us ever since (over a year) and is a joy. we are looking for another rescue dog and while Toby generally loves all other dogs, he is particularly fond of female dogs (he is fixed btw). Our old roommate had a very large lab/husky mix who was a female, and he ADORED her. any additional info or updates would be greatly appreciated.
Can't wait to see new pics of Katie & the pups. Curious to know the sexes. Hoping to take one home for Easter!
I am obsessed with Katie's blog page, I check it every day for new puppy pictures!
