The Dog Liberator rescues abandoned dogs throughout the Southeast. Based in Central Florida, this non-profit organization fosters all of their dogs in a home environment. Founded in 2009, all dogs are fully vetted, spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Mark Lucas and I have been talking for months now, and we have a lot of hopes and dreams that have not yet come true… but they will. Our goal is to find awesome rescued dogs and turn them into Soccer Dogs!

I’m very excited about this opportunity, not only for the dogs but for the kids.  Think about it, many of TDL’s dogs are very high energy, Anita says they are high-octane dogs!  We all have busy schedules, and can’t travel the country to disc competitions or agility trials.  But playing soccer with your dog can be done while you’re sitting in a chair drinking iced tea!

Sunkissed from Miami Dade

Kids love soccer, why not let them play soccer with their dog?  It’s a great way to exhaust both the dog and the kids.  Mark starts by training the dog in a small hallway with the soccer ball.  You don’t even need a big yard.  I’ve found that kicking a soccer ball in the living room is less dangerous than throwing a tennis ball!  I really believe that Soccer has a big future for the herding breed, and it’s a hobby where everybody wins.

Sunkissed loved going through the soccer dog training program, but she would prefer to play freestyle in a less structured environment, in other words, she wants to play with kids, not on a field!  She is a one year old Golden Retriever / Border Collie mix with a very sweet personality. She loves children and she’s ready to play soccer with anyone. She sits in front of an open door and waits for her release command before going through the outside door. She also goes potty on command and runs well next to a bike. She has exceptionally good behavior and she’s very intelligent.  Sunkissed is available for adoption through TDL.  Email thedogliberator@gmail.com for more details.
