When The Rescued Becomes The Rescuer
You may remember Lexie. She was one of “Dee’s White Fluffy Puppies” that we rescued and placed in June. She generated a lot of interest, and many people came to meet her, but they adopted a different puppy. She just didn’t “connect” with anyone.
And then Joanna walked into my home and it was a done deal. Lexie loved Joanna, and Joanna loved Lexie. And off they went, home to Daytona. And, as always, I wondered if I would ever hear back from them.
I shouldn’t have worried. Joanna drops me an e-mail every now and then, and I delight in sharing them with everyone on The DogLiberator facebook page. But this one…., well, this one is special. I’ll share the whole thing with you:
“About an hour before I had to go to work Thursday, Lexie and I walked out to the very edge of the property. She’s familiar with this area, but for some reason she kept wanting to go where she normally doesn’t go; on the other side of an abandoned delivery truck. Well after finally letting her go over there, I noticed she was sniffing around at something… she found a baby kitten! No mama cat or any other babies were around so I took it inside.

I’m now bottle feeding it and telling my boyfriend, “I promise we won’t keep it, I’m just going to get it big enough to eat dry found then give it to a good home.” (*coughs*) Hey, Lexie kind of likes it, I can’t get rid of her friend!
P.S. – I agree she looks like she may be a ‘Lassie’ collie, aww I’ve always wanted one of those! ;-)”
