Keith Urban~Adopted

Surrendering a dog because you can’t meet its needs is never a bad thing. When an owner sobs while they are surrendering their dog to a rescue, you know that they are putting the dog’s needs ahead of their own.  Whether it’s time, attention or exercise, most dogs need them all!

That’s the case with this gorgeous 2 year-old male Aussie who is available for adoption in the Atlanta, GA area. He is smart, friendly, playful, great with other dogs, and kids.  He looks a lot like Brittney’s Mystery, doesn’t he?

01/28/14 update:  There are many rescues that pull dogs from shelters, have them transported directly to adopters.  If you’ve been following our rescue for a period of time, I think you’ll agree that we would rather take the time to learn about our rescued dogs so that we can properly place them in the right homes, thus avoiding the dogs from being returned.  We’ve learned a lot about this gorgeous boy in just a few days.

Of course, after his grooming experience, he posed nicely in the snow!First, he is from a strong working line of Australian Shepherds.  What does this mean?  He’s not just a family pet!  He’s walking around looking for something to do.  He needs a job.  You only have to tell him once, and he gets it.  I believe that he could be a great agility, disc or farm companion.  He is NOT a couch potato.

He needs basic training on the leash, but is fantastic in the car.  He is quiet and well-mannered in the crate, but will bolt if you leave the door open accidentally!  He is house-broken, and very friendly; he wants to please.

This boy could easily become a super star if given the chance.  If you’re looking to spend time outside working with an incredibly intelligent and athletic dog – this is your boy!  And, by the way, I decided to name him Keith Urban!

01/30/14 Update:  We have confirmed that cats, rabbits and other furry creatures will not be tolerated by Keith!

02/05/14 Update:  Keith recently visited That Dirty Dog!  He was groomed and he looks Marvelous!  Special thanks to the folks at Dirty Dog for taking care of so many of our Atlanta-based dogs.  If you’re in the Atlanta area, look them up!  They are located at 11255 Woodstock Road #100, Roswell, Georgia 30075 and their phone number is 770-993-7877.  They offer both self-serve and the works!

02/17/14 Update:  Keith has been adopted by Linda.  Linda lives in Florida right off the water, so Keith will get plenty of exercise.  Linda has years experience in agility and has owned many Aussies.  She will train him, but spoil him rotten!
